Dimensional (DIM) Weight Causes Major Incorrect Extra Costs

This is why we complete checks on all your shipments that are billed within the Dimensional Weight guide lines.  UPS™ states the following about DIM weight:

“Determining which weight to use in calculating your rate requires that you determine which rule applies. Different rules apply depending on the service selected. Dimensional weight considers density, which is the amount of space a package occupies in relation to its actual weight, to determine billable weight. Calculations of dimensional weight are subject to change without notice.” - www.ups.com

(Complicated and without notice are the keys here.)

Dimensional Weight is also incorrectly billed due to a couple factors on the shipments way to the consignee.

-          Seasonal help within the hub incorrectly completing an audit on your shipment.

-          Automated hubs laser scanning a shipment that may have a piece of packing tape sticking off that made the system bill more on your shipment.
